UPLIFT Procedure - Uterine Suspension Technique
The UPLIFT procedure (Uterine Positioning via Ligament Investment Fixation and Truncation)
may be used to treat pain during intercourse or pain during menstruation caused by a tipped
uterus. It is performed with minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
The most common reason to perform UPLIFT is collision dyspareunia, a condition affecting some women with a retroverted or tipped
uterus. Women experience pain when the penis hits the cervix during intercourse. Similarly,
a retroverted uterus could be responsible for other problems such as menstrual pain or
infertility in some women.
With the UPLIFT procedure, the round ligaments holding the uterus in place are shortened
and strengthened to suspend it in a more normal position.

The UPLIFT procedure is a simple surgical procedure that shortens and strengthens
the ligaments holding the uterus, positioning the uterus in more normal position. This
helps treat the cause of the pain associated with a retroverted uterus.
