UPLIFT Procedure - Patient Stories

The following women were treated with the UPLIFT procedure, uterine suspension, for various conditions. They have agreed to share their stories in the hopes of helping other women. The names have changed in the interest of privacy.

Angie's Story

Angie is a 40-year-old woman who experienced painful intercourse and pelvic pain for almost 20 years. She learned about the UPLIFT procedure from her Internet searches, found a doctor to perform the procedure and it has made a noticeable difference in her life. This is Angie's story in her own words.

Shari's Story

Shari, 32, married and the mother of four children, experienced pain during intercourse. Because the UPLIFT procedure made a big difference in her life, she wants other women who experience painful intercourse to know there is hope for them. This is Shari's story in her own words.

Paula's Story

Paula is 32 years old, married, and has one child. She experienced lower back pain and pain during intercourse and was diagnosed with collision dyspareunia resulting from a tipped or retroverted uterus.

Paula was treated at the C. Paul Perry Pelvic Pain Center, Birmingham, AL.

Marian's Story

Marian is a 24 year old single woman who experienced painful periods and pain during intercourse. She was diagnosed with endometriosis and collision dyspareunia.

Jo's Story

Jo is married and has children. She experienced pain during intercourse and was diagnosed with endometriosis and with collision dyspareunia resulting from a tipped uterus.

Sue's Story

Sue is 22 years old, married and the mother of two children. She began to experience extremely painful intercourse shortly after the birth of her son in June 1997 and was diagnosed with a retroverted uterus.
