Symptoms of Pelvic Pain

The symptoms of chronic pelvic pain may vary from person to person. Symptoms occur as a result of the combined influences of the mind, nervous system and the body.

  • Pain that lasts for 6 months or more
  • There has been little or no relief with usual treatment
  • The amount of pain may be greater than the amount of tissue damage found by the usual diagnostic test
  • Physical activity has become more limited
  • The patient may show signs of depression like sleep disturbances, constipation, loss of appetite, slow movement or slow reactions
  • There may be altered emotional roles in the family and the woman may have changed her usual role in the family
