AVESTA® Procedure - Is It For Me?
Only your doctor can determine if the AVESTA procedure is appropriate for you.
If you have been diagnosed with vaginal vault prolapse that requires surgery to correct,
the AVESTA procedure may be one of the options for you.
Before your doctor recommends treatment, she or he will take a thorough medical
history and perform a pelvic exam. The pelvic exam will include measurements to
determine the type and degree of prolapse you may have. For example, you may also
have a prolapsed bladder in addition to your vaginal vault prolapse. In these cases,
your doctor may also evaluate your bladder function at the same time. You will also
fill out a questionnaire that lists your symptoms and asks you to rate them.
We encourage you to speak openly with your doctor about your symptoms and
expectations about various treatment options. To prepare for your exam, you
may wish to write down your symptoms, and any questions or concerns.
